Gordon R. Clogston
Gordon Clogston enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps where he was trained in electronics communications ultimately becoming a technical instructor, creating the foundation of his career in the training industry. Nine years later he left the Marines to Join Ford Aerospace and Communications Corporation where he worked on several projects spanning technologies from satellite ground communications to encrypted telephone services equipment.
Desiring a career in management, Gordon accepted the role of World Wide Training Manager with Fluke Automated Systems where he gained experience in the automated test equipment industry and further honed his leadership and management skills.
Over a period of 14 years, Gordon assumed successive positions of increasing management responsibility and ultimately became the Global Training Manager for Cisco Systems. He and his team were largely responsible for launching the Cisco Systems Training Partner program in 1993 which stands today as one of the preeminent examples of authorized training partner program success.
Gordon left Cisco Systems to accept the position of Chief Operating Officer for a small company called Protocol Interface which ultimately became GeoTrain, one of the largest and most successful Cisco Training Partners in the world at that time. After leaving GeoTrain, Gordon worked as a senior executive in several commercial training companies to include Digital Education Systems, Colorado Computer Training Institute, Dimension Data Corporation, Sunset Learning Company, and Batky-Howell.
Today, Gordon is the Director of Operations for Batky-Howell, a Denver, CO based company with over 20 years of experience delivering high-quality, instructor-led IT training solutions to companies ranging from small startups to Fortune 500 businesses.
Gordon has a Masters in Business Administration from the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University, Santa Clara, CA.
His leadership style is a blend of his academic studies and years of hands-on experience from which lessons learned are shared through his articles on this blog.
